MFSA provides that vital role of being the living conscience for our United Methodist Church. We desperately need a prophetic voice in our times of basic survival and adaptation as a mainline denomination … We have to be constantly reminded that the heart of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is to call into question the economic, political and religious status quo that keeps us in bondage.
For more than 100 years, MFSA has helped remind the people called Methodists that ‘there is no holiness but social holiness.’ We know community is essential to our Christian faith. Yet too often we find our communities filled with systems, ideologies and behaviors that demean and harm people and creation itself. Being part of MFSA has helped me live more faithfully as a United Methodist in the world.
